They awarded 12 Marin restaurants distinctions, including 5 Bib Gourmands, 6 Notable Mentions, and 1 Michelin Star restaurant (Madcap whose space is shown above).

Our favorite Marin Michelin recognition is the Bib Gourmand — high quality food at a great value and a casual atmosphere — so lets start there.
Insalatas. A mediterranean food destination in San Anselmo for over 20 years, and a multiple-year Michelin winner.
Pig in a Pickle. High quality ingredients meet southern style sauces at this BBQ destination at Corte Madera Town Center, only 5 minutes from Acqua Hotel.
Playa. A few blocks from Mill Valley Inn, Playa’s modern Mexican food matches its gorgeous indoor/outdoor space.
Sushi Ran. Not only considered one of the best Sushi Restaurants in California, but also the Country. And so close to Acqua Hotel!
Village Sake. This japanese Izakaya pub doesn’t take reservations, so familiarize yourself with the waitlist.
Marin County’s 6 Michelin Notable Mentions Restaurants
Let’s consider these restaurants on their way to a Bib Gourmand!
Tony’s Seafood. You can do no better than to experience a plate of oysters at this bayside spot on Tomales Bay. Immerse in the sounds and scents of the bay while you enjoy your briny bivalves and fish and chips.
Cafe Reyes. A must-do in your Point Reyes/West Marin day trip, where you’ll experience the local bounty of the region and soak in the specific vibe of the town. You’re going for the pizza, full stop!
Masa Sushi. A great reason to visit cute downtown Novato! We love the bento boxes and the chirashi, both a great way to try many things.
Guesthouse. Known for basics done particularly well — cocktails, seasonal ingredients, and a wood fired grill giving special flavor for everything from salmon to lamb chops.
Restaurant Picco. Located charming downtown Larkspur has been serving diners craveable California-Italian inspired dishes for 20 years. The space is quintessentially Northern Californian, the service is fun and professional, and the food is obviously very very good. Don’t miss the ahi sticky rice cakes, the avocado bruschetta (I know! But this one is different and so good!), and the risotto.
Burmatown. This is a super popular local neighborhood spot where diners return again and again for the flavorful well-priced food in a fun environment.
Marin County’s Michelin Star Restaurant: Madcap
If you are celebrating or just want the best date night in Marin, MadCap (pictured above) in San Anselmo is your go-to. The upscale space is warm so inviting, the service is professional but not stuffy, and well, the food is Michelin Star quality. Trust that the 11-Course Menu is the perfect amount of food, paced just so. A must-do date night experience!
