Daylight Savings Time: Check! Rain has moved on from Marin County: probably check. Rain watered our famous hillside wildflowers: also check! That means it is Sunset Hike season! One of our favorite things to share with our guests at Marin Hotels is our recommendations for hikes. To make it easy for our guests to find the info, we’ve consolidated our recommendations in our most popular Travel Guide Best Flat Hikes in Marin County. And now we want to expand that by adding the Sunset filter.

Oh! This hike would be a good Marin Date Night idea especially when paired with dinner in Marin apres-hike.

Let’s start out with the basics: our Sunset Hike recommendations will have easy parking, maintained hiking trails, and of course a sunset view. Be sure to plan your trip so that you are walking back while it’s still light. To that end, we’ll suggest hikes that are short so you can spend time enjoying the view and still make it back to the car in time. Just in case: pack a flashlight to illuminate the trail.

Sunset Hike: Tennessee Point Trail in Marin Headlands

First up Tennessee Point Trail in the Marin Headlands. Click on that link for all of the info about the trail In short, it’s an easy 1.5-mile round trip with some of the most awesome views you’ll find in the Bay Area and a perfect spot to watch the sun drop into the Pacific Ocean. And bonus: it’s close to our three Marin Hotels.

How To. Park at the Rodeo Beach lot and head towards the Coastal Trail. You’ll veer toward the left for a slight uphill and then turn right to follow the Coastal Trail until you reach Tennessee Point. Enjoy that spot for a while before you turn around and head back the same way.

For this Sunset Hike, you are not going all the way to Tennessee Valley as shown in the directional sign above. You’re stopping at Tennessee Point. Here’s the link again with a map. This is the sign that signals the start of your hike, so look for that after you park. It will be obvious!

Note: Please stay on trail! As tempting as going off trail may be, the terrain is unstable.
