Marin County: National Park Lover's Paradise

There are so many good things to say about Marin County, but one of the best is the fact that the county is situated in one of the most beautiful spots on earth, with National, State, and County parks throughout the county. In today’s post, we’re going to cover the best of The National Parks of Marin. Onward!

Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Okay get ready because this is a BIG area. We’re going to narrow the it down by covering just the National Park highlights in Marin County. If you are planning to visit any of the destinations below, click on the links to get up-to-date information on trail conditions, weather, and other practicalities.

The Marin Headlands — including The Marine Mammal Center and Headlands Center for the Arts. Immerse for a day or two in this accessible yet remote-feeling patch of nature on the Pacific. Enjoy the stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, and consider adding on one of our favorite Flat Hikes in Marin.

Stinson Beach and Muir Beach + Muir Beach Overlook explore all three for a beautiful coastal day.

Muir Woods reservations required! Worth it!

Point Bonita Lighthouse open only limited hours, but a HIGH recommend for including in your itinerary.

And since it’s so close to all of our Marin Hotels, let’s include The Presidio of San Francisco.

Point Reyes National Seashore

Yet another BIG area in West Marin. Lightly populated and remote feeling, this is where you’ll find big nature. Oh, and spotty cell service, so download maps and other info before you head out. All of the info for the highlights of this National Park area and all of the in links below.

Bear Valley Visitor Center is a good starting point for your exploration of the area.

Point Reyes Lighthouse it’s out there on the edge, with wow views and whales!

Chimney Rock for wildflowers and elephant seals.

Tomales Point Elk Reserve for when you want to add majestic wildlife to your hike with panoramic views.

The Beaches so many beaches!

The Trails and even more trails!!
