Marin Travel Guide: Best Restaurants Marin County Summer 2025

A new list of the Best Restaurants in Marin County dropped yesterday, from Eater San Francisco. At Marin Hotels, we look at these lists with an eye towards recommending to our guests. Our criteria are:

  • Are these legitimate recommendations from a local’s perspective?

  • Are the restaurants nearby Acqua Hotel, Mill Valley Inn, and Waters Edge Hotel; and if not are they worth the drive?

  • Will our guest have a unique Marin experience, leaving with a notable Marin memory?

We’ve absorbed, debated, and agreed that these 17 Marin County restaurants are indeed guest-worthy!

17 Best Restaurants in Marin County

Here’s a link to the SF Eater list: 17 Essential Restaurants in Marin County. To help with your travel planning we’ve prioritized our top 5 for you based on vacation-worthiness. We want you to have more than a meal, we want you to have a unique taste of Marin County!

We’ve included a range from a humble loaf of bread to a fine dining experience. If you hit up all 5 destinations, you ‘ll have a true Marin culinary experience!

  • Sushi Ran for the sushi dining at a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant considered one of the best sushi destinations in the United States. The low key atmosphere in a cozy duo of low-slung buildings on a buzzy little street in Sausalito combined with excellent service and of course extremely well-executed sushi is a Marin memory-maker for sure. Bonus: close to all of our hotels.

  • Pelican Inn for Ploughman’s Lunch in a low-lit pub after a day in nature. This spot (featured up top in the photo) always feels magical to us after a day at Stinson Beach, a visit to Slide Ranch, or hiking on Mt Tam. Going from big nature to an extremely cozy human-sized space feels like a nice little hug. After a day on the coast, this one is an easy stop-off on your way back to our hotels.

  • Avatar’s Punjabi Burritos is a fusion we’ve been crazy about for years. Located in a cute shop on a side street in Mill Valley, we could eat the mustard green burrito every day. Lots of options for gluten-free eaters, too. Bonus: steps from Mill Valley Inn.

  • MADCAP for your fine-dining Michelin Star experience. Experience 10 courses in a casual/upscale environment in charming downtown San Anselmo. For special occasions it’s worth the drive from our hotels, 20-25 minutes.

  • Brickmaiden Breads for pastries and breads from the original Marin County bread baker. All over Marin County you will find really really good bread. Brickmaiden is our favorite, and due to the Point Reyes Station location, a visit to the cottage bakery is part of a fun only-in-Marin day out in West Marin. The drive from the hotels is about an hour, through redwood forests, rolling hills, and the small charming towns of Marin. A bread-based road trip is definitely worth the trip!

Bon Apetit!
