Shopping Meets Dining at Three Marin-Style Malls
By now you know about the abundant natural beauty in Marin County - Redwood forests, the Pacific ocean, miles of hiking and biking trails, and absolutely stunning views. But you know what we haven’t shared with you? The details of our shopping malls!
When we say the malls are Marin-style, that means they’re not your typical malls: they’re outdoors, offer excellent food, and a mix of big brands and local speciality shops. Plus: located in Corte Madera and Larkspur, they’re all a few minute’s drive from Mill Valley Inn, Acqua Hotel, and Waters Edge Hotel.
Pro Tip: plan your shopping trip around your meals! Some of the best dining in Marin can be found at the Malls. (Again: not your typical mall. And certainly not your typical mall food)
Here are our three favorite malls — okay let’s start calling them shopping areas — along with our favorite shopping and dining spots at each:
At The Village you’ll find the big brands like Nordstrom, Macy’s, Gap, Apple, Williams Sonoma, Anthropologie and more — much more. This lovely outdoor shopping area also houses a couple of interesting concept stores. If you’re the type who likes to experience the latest products, pop in to these shops:
B8ta. Discover, try, and buy the latest tech products — many from little known makers — at this well-designed technology boutique.
Peloton. Test drive this sleek and super fun exercise bike at this smart little Peloton studio.
Tesla. You’ll notice that Marin-ites love their Tesals. Explore one or more for yourself at this Tesla design studio.
When you’re ready for a bite to eat, order classic italian-style wood fired pizza and cocktails at local’s favorite Boca Pizzeria. Or check out the latest health-centric eatery from Copenhagen: Joe and The Juice.
How convenient, Town Center is located just across the road from The Village! You’ll find brands like Urban Outfitters, Crate and Barrel, Starbucks, and Sur La Table at Town Center. In almost equal measure you’ll find local shops mixed in all over this outdoor shopping area. And food! Town Center is one of the most popular dining destinations in Marin.
Here are a few of our favorites. All are family friendly, casual, and local businesses.
Flores. Craft cocktails and elevated traditional mexican food served in a bright and lively restaurant.
Blue Barn. Sandwiches and grain bowls, yes. But it’s all about the really big salad here. If you’re feeling the need for greens, there is no better place. Dine inside, on the patio, or get it to go.
Marin Pizza. The first farm-to-table pizza restaurant in the country, Marin Pizza’s ingredients are sourced from local farmers and ranchers.
World Wrapps. From the people who brought you the wrap craze from San Francisco back in the 90’s, circa 2018 Word Wraps serves Nori, Flatbread, and Rice Paper wraps. An easy option for taking back to your hotel, if you feel like a netflix and chill evening in your room.
More than just an outdoor shopping area, Marin Country Mart is an experience. Featuring a really stellar spa, lots of beautiful shops, and even more restaurants. Add in plenty of events and room for the kids to run around and you will see for yourself why Marin Country Mart is a destination for people from all over the Bay Area.
International Orange. A full range of skin and body treatments, including acupuncture. Be sure to spend time in the relaxation lounge. Ahhhh.
Union Made. High quality Men’s and Women’s apparel and accessories, all feel one-of-a-kind
Wise Sons Bagelry. The best bagels in Marin. We said it! And the matzo ball soup, yes to that too.
Fischer’s Cheese and Wine. A lovely spot for that wine-n-cheese break you know you need.
Farmshop. It feels special occasion and relaxed at the same time. An essential Marin dining experience.
Bel Campo. Many people say this farm-to-table spot serves the best burger in Marin.
El Huarache Loco. High quality Mexico City cuisine in a fast casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The chips and salsa are excellent, and we never pass up the chicken mole enchiladas.
See you out there!
p.s. The kid-friendly lunch up top? That’s from El Hurache Loco in Marin Country Mart.
